What's in Our Immunity Elixir

The Special Combination of Ingredients in Our Immunity Elixir

One of the most exciting developments in the last year was the official launch of our Fantastic Fungi Mushroom Drops. We started last winter with Gratitude, an aptly named and symbiotic blend of some of our favorite mushrooms to support your mood, immunity and longevity.* From there we expanded to include five more — including our Immunity Elixir.

We’ve heard from our community that they love this blend (and so far it has only five-star reviews). Brian R. calls them an “essential part of my daily routine” — love to hear that.

Around the world, different branches of herbalism rely on the concept of synergy to formulate herbal products that together are stronger and better than the sum of their parts. Our expert formulators used the same technique to make Immunity. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients we chose.

Chaga

Inonotus obliquus

Chaga mushrooms offer potent immune support.* This mushroom is among the highest sources of natural antioxidants on the planet.* Chaga also offers support against UV exposure.*

Commonly found on birch trees in cold climates across Eastern Europe and North America, Chaga grows as a sclerotia (canker) on a host tree. It looks more like burned wood than a mushroom (what a clever “disguise”). It has a deep history of traditional use in Russian herbalism.

Maitake

Grifola frondosa

Also known as hen of the woods or the dancing mushroom, Maitake is a mushroom that you’ll find in supplements and on the supper table. The name “dancing mushroom” dates back to feudal Japan, where they were worth their weight in silver. Thankfully they are more affordable (and cultivated) these days.

Edible and native to Asia, Europe and North America, Maitake mushrooms support immune health, healthy blood sugar levels within normal ranges and some aspects of cardiovascular health.*

Turkey Tail

Trametes versicolor

Turkey Tails are the most widely researched mushrooms due to their support of the immune system.* These striped mushrooms are used extensively in China and Japan. They get their name from the colorful fans their fruiting bodies form, which resemble the tails of turkeys. They are also one of the easiest mushrooms to learn to identify in nature. (But always be 100% certain of a species’ identity before you harvest any wild mushroom!)

Turkey Tails offer antioxidant support and are native to North America, Europe and Asia.*

Beyond this trio of mushrooms, we selected two time-honored herbs for Immunity. One is widely used in Eastern herbalism, the other in Western herbalism.

Astragalus

Astragalus membranaceus

Native to China, Astragalus is known as huang qi (yellow leader) in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which considered it to be among the most important herbs. A member of the legume family, Astragalus’ roots are used in herbalism, for a variety of traditional uses, including immunity.*

Black Elderberries

Sambucus nigra

Black Elderberries are one of the best-known herbs to support immunity.* They have been used for centuries across North America and Europe, where the tree earned its name based on the level of respect it commands.*

The blue-black berries are the second botanical produced each year by Elder trees; they start out as lacy white Elderflowers, also used in herbalism.* Both Elder berries and flowers are used as flavorings across Europe.

As with all of our Elixirs, our Immunity formula is triple-extracted for bioavailability and potency. They’re also third-party tested to give you peace of mind and made with the highest quality whole mushrooms and no fillers to capture the true essence of each mushroom. When you have as much respect for nature as we do, you don’t take shortcuts!
